The Beginning
Before the Music Marketing project was assigned to us, each one of my future group members knew that we would have to work hard to accomplish the final result. When it was announced that we could work in groups of four, creating our group was an easy task. When we sat down together, it was immediately off to brainstorming and creating a schedule. Once we decided on what days we would meet to film and practice our presentation; it was time to get an idea and create our storyboard.
There was one person in our group who was better at drawing than the rest, so they were appointed to the drawing aspect. We all pitched several ideas that would go with our chosen song, "Time is Running Out" by Muse. After about 45 minutes of going back and forth on different ideas, the one that stuck was the idea of addiction. We came up with this using the lyrics of the song, and understanding that is what they meant. After this, we started to draw the beginning of our storyboard.

After we completed our storyboard, we began to research different labels that produced popular rock artists. We found two companies to focus on, Warner Records and Radio Corporation of America (RCA). We had two people research for each company, and each person researched a different band. We compiled our research into a chart on GoogleDocs, so we could each learn about what we had found.
The company I researched was RCA, along with one of my group mates. Together, we decided on which bands each of us would be looking into individually. My group mate chose The Strokes, while I chose Cage the Elephant. I spent time researching the band's history and how they marketed themselves toward their young-adult audience. I learned specifically about how they used social media to promote themselves to their audience. It was very interesting.
Finally, the entire group got back together to begin the filming process. After many hours, we finally finished and we were happy with the final outcome.
